E.H. Strickland Entomological Museum Virtual Tour

The Strickland Museum was started at the ß÷ßäÉçÇø in 1922 by Col. Edgar Harold Strickland. The original collection contained research specimens that Strickland used to compile resources such as An annotated list of the Diptera (flies) of ß÷ßäÉçÇø (1938) and an annotated list of the wasps of ß÷ßäÉçÇø (1947). The museum now contains over 1 million specimens, including over 4,500 type specimens. The Strickland Museum houses several large collections assembled by avid amateur entomologists. Among others, the early collections of Frederick Stephen Carr (~100,000 specimens) and Kenneth Bowman (~13,000 species) contribute to the incredible biodiversity represented in this museum.
