Emil Skarin Fund

Emil Skarin Fund

The Emil Skarin Fund was created in March 1976 from a donation by Mrs. Ada Skarin in memory of her late husband Emil Richard Skarin.

Mr. Skarin came to Canada from Sweden in 1902 and began his studies at the ß÷ßäÉçÇø in 1913. He was an excellent student and became a successful businessman, becoming the president of the Crown Paving Company, where he served from 1919 to 1959. Skarin served as Swedish consul in Edmonton in 1942 and became president of ß÷ßäÉçÇø Concrete Products until he retired in 1964.

Preferred objectives noted in the donation of the fund included projects having an interest or value to the public as well as value to the ß÷ßäÉçÇø, with an emphasis on the arts and humanities. The donor also expressed an interest in projects that the ß÷ßäÉçÇø would not normally undertake without assistance from the Emil Skarin Fund.
