Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway

Due to the first of March falling on a Saturday, application will launch on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at noon MST.

The Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway is designed for foreign-trained lawyers who wish to practise law in Canada. This Faculty of Law initiative provides an avenue for completing the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s process in a supportive classroom environment, and prepares internationally educated lawyers to enter the Canadian legal profession. Students who successfully complete their NCA requirements at the ß÷ßäÉçÇø are not required to write the NCA examinations.

The NCA assesses the legal credentials of all foreign-trained lawyers in Canada. In its assessment, it determines which additional requirements are necessary to be qualified to practise law. Students who successfully complete their NCA requirements will receive a Certificate of Qualification and can then apply to begin the licensing process of any provincial common law jurisdiction law society in Canada.
