ß÷ßäÉçÇø International works in collaboration with faculties to create partnerships in training and education that share Uß÷ßäÉçÇø's expertise with partners abroad through the International Projects unit.

Uß÷ßäÉçÇø has extensive national and international networks of relationships at government, private sector, and civil society levels. The International Projects unit works within these networks to identify opportunities to support, enrich, and expand faculties' international activities and enhance Uß÷ßäÉçÇø's international reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and global engagement.

Some Uß÷ßäÉçÇø capacity building and training initiatives in Asia are:

Global Academic Leadership Development (GALD) program

The GALD program is a customizable global academic leadership and professional development program for cohorts of employees from government and education sectors delivered by the ß÷ßäÉçÇø.

Since 2012, over 600 Chinese university administrators and professors from more than 200 different institutions have participated in the GALD program at Uß÷ßäÉçÇø with sponsorship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Many GALD participants have been promoted into senior level positions at their home universities following completion of the program. They have become ambassadors of Uß÷ßäÉçÇø and the province of ß÷ßäÉçÇø in China.

Hokkaido Teachers of English Program (HTEP)

Since 2001, the Dept. of Secondary Education has provided foreign language pedagogy training to over 1,000 English teachers from the Japanese province of Hokkaido through a project called the Hokkaido Teachers of English Program (HTEP). The program was initiated as a cooperative effort among the Government of ß÷ßäÉçÇø, the Department of Secondary Education in Uß÷ßäÉçÇø's Faculty of Education, and the Hokkaido Board of Education. It is led by Dr. Olenka Bilash, Professor at the Department of Secondary Education. Previously cohorts of teachers came to Uß÷ßäÉçÇø for training during the summer; however, training is currently provided in Hokkaido.

Strengthening Extractive Sector Management in Mongolia (SESMIM) Project

In 2017 and 2018, ß÷ßäÉçÇø International (UAI) partnered with Agriteam Canada on the implementation of their "Strengthening Extractive Sector Management in Mongolia" (SESMIM) technical assistance project for the Government of Mongolia funded by Global Affairs Canada. UAI's role included facilitating professional short courses, regulatory review and knowledge transfer based on Canadian best practices.
